Our target was to enjoy food and culture. I have already written separate posts about <a href=\"https:\/\/stuif.com\/blog\/?p=18918\">Penang Mural Art<\/a>,  <a href=\"https:\/\/stuif.com\/blog\/?p=18720\">Penang Colonial Architecture<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/stuif.com\/blog\/?p=19001\">Penang Museums<\/a>. In this post I will write about our trip and about food.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">We traveled by ETS train from KL Sentral to Butterworth, a very comfortable journey. From Butterworth we took the ferry to George Town. were hungry and needed lunch first .  We found a busy food court, where I had Penang Assam Laksa. The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tripadvisor.com.my\/Hotel_Review-g298303-d5539526-Reviews-Armenian_Street_Heritage_Hotel-George_Town_Penang_Island_Penang.html\">Armenian Street Heritage Hotel<\/a> is very of course most dim sum places are not halal. We were lucky to find a gem: <a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/dimsumvalet\/\">Dim Sum Valet<\/a> . Delicious dim sum, a very friendly Malay couple, they started the shop beginning of this year. For lunch we went back to the food court at the Esplanade that was closed yesterday evening. One bank building after another prove that in those colonial times George Town was the financial center of Malaya. I had good memories about this place from earlier visits, but this time I was rather disappointed. Too many tourists, too expensive. Paul and Fahmi went back to KL, I stayed in Taiping for couple of days more, see my report <a href=\"https:\/\/stuif.com\/blog\/?p=18723\">Taiping, July 2019<\/a> .<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">It was nice to visit George Town. But as a result of being a Unesco Heritage Site, it has become very touristic.
