Lata Jala
Another waterfall, discovered by Siang Hui using Google Earth. Harry, also an avid waterfall hunter had done a recce to this fall and was willing to guide Rani and me there. On 28 March 2010 we started from the Gepai waterfall, first a clear trail, at the end serious river trekking. On our way we also visited the Upper Gepai fall.
It was a long hike, but finally we reached the impressive waterfall.
On our way back we noticed a trail to Kg Senta. That looked like an easier starting point. On 22 August I tried that route with Rani and Richard. Before Kg Senta there was a small road leading to farms. We started hiking at the end of this road.
Progress was smooth until we came at a fork of the trail and took the wrong one, as there was no one to ask. Finally we met two petai collectors who told us that should take the other fork. We lost almost two hours by this mistake.
When on the right track, we reached the waterfall, river trekking the last stretch. We admired the fall, took a bath and then hiked the same way back to the car. There we met a few guys who mentioned another waterfall, not far away. We followed them and discovered that it was the Gepai fall.
During CNY 2917 we wanted to visit Lata Jala again. Rani and I had been there twice, but Nick, Teoh and Siang Hui not yet. We took the route from kg Senta and all went well until we were about 500 meter away from the waterfall. Both Rani and I had completely forgotten that this for last stretch you have to river trek. After trying to find trails, we finally gave up. The complete story can be found here: An unsuccessful waterfall trip
