Sg Weh falls
On 19 March 2011 Siang Hui, Nick and I went on a trip to the Sg Weh river in Pahang, north of Maran. Siang Hui had information about several waterfalls in that river. We decided for an overnight camp at the Batu Hampar cascades. We started hiking from Kuala Sentul and reached Batu Hampar after about 2.5 hours.
Near the cascades there was a suitable campsite, where already another group was camping. Less than 50 meter downstream there was an impressive waterfall, Tebing Tinggi.
In the afternoon we relaxed near the falls, taking a bath, Siang Hui went fishing and we explored the river further downstream. We had our dinner beside the Tebing Tinggi fall.
The next morning we went to the Jeram Pelangi (Rainbow Fall), which we reached in about 2 hour, mostly river trekking. On our way we passed the Lubuk Kawah with a huge pool.
The Jeram Pelangi is a spectacular, almost vertical fall, worth the long hike.
It is possible to scramble behind the waterfall.
There was even a small cave behind the falling water. On our way back I built my signature marker at Lubuk Kawah. Then it was time to leave camp and hike back. A very memorable trip.
